During the pandemic, my home was a source of comfort. The composition which establishes a limited view of the outside world along with the distance between the viewer and the walls creates a sense of security.

As a portrayal of the path on my way home, this work serves as a view into my daily life. The perspective is arranged to match my natural line of sight, allowing the viewer to see the world as I do.

Greek Home

Based on the common-sight of half-constructed homes in Greece, the contrast between the floors of the home depicts the economic troubles of everyday people. The light values and intricacy of the bottom two floors create a welcoming atmosphere typical of a home, while the dark value and simplicity of the unfinished top floor create a sense of discomfort which mirrors their economic standing.

Astoria Carnival

Inspired by time at the Astoria Carnival, I aimed to document a space that had been repurposed for a different function. The juxtaposition between the bright colors of the attractions and the muted colors of the background highlights the temporary nature of the carnival.

Monastery

Inspired by my visit to a Greek Monastery, the piece addresses the role of religious spaces in the identity of the collective. The focus on light and shadow, communicated by the change in values, along with the smooth texture of the walls creates a sense of serenity cherished by the community.

Fabricated Spaces

Every space has a narrative. When the structures which comprise it shift, so does this narrative. The lines of each image have been arranged to create the illusion that each image belongs together, fabricating new spaces and hence narratives.

Rewritten Narratives

This series addresses the power of a setting on the identity of its users. Contrasting settings have been placed together, a condensed city and open space, to create a new narrative and subsequent identities for its users. Further, the subtle indentation of forms visible throughout each piece mimics the contrast between what is shown and the expected perception of each structure.
